August Memo

Welcome to a new school year.  If you have not notified Ryan Witzig of your DA please e-mail her today.  You will find a check list for the year on this page.  Please visit often and keep up to date with what is going on in the state.  VA DECA adopted the new events offered by DECA Inc.  Please offer all events at your DLC this year.  This will provide your members with more opportunities to compete at the State Level and potentially at the International Level.  There has been a change in the VA Only Events.  These events are now only open to Freshman who are current members of your chapter.  Have a fantastic year and please contact me with any questions.   - Ryan Witzig, VA DECA Specialist

District Check List
 
August   

• Determine who will be DA for the 2012-2013 school year. E-mail to Ryan Witzig.
• Have a District Meeting.  Discuss dates for your DLC, deadlines and events offered. Collect chapter president information for your DP.
• Select a District President.  E-mail name, chapter and e-mail address to Ryan Witzig.

September  

• Complete the DLC Supply Form by September 14th

•  Review the District President's Roles and Responsibilities with your DP. Check out the DP Manual on the CMG page.
• Have the DP contact all Chapter Presidents in your District. 
• It is never too early to start recruiting judges!

October  

• DLC testing dates should be determined by now.
• The District President Report is due on the 10th of this month for September.
• Tests and Role Plays will be sent to DAs with DLC in November this month.
• Encourage your District to participate in National DECA Week.
• Awards and certificates will be sent out in batches based on your DLC date.

November  

• Celebrate VA DECA Day this month!

• Good luck with DLC if yours is this month. 

  • The DLC Script will help you with your awards ceremony.

  • Complete the DLC Winners Report within 3 days of your event.

  • Complete the DLC Participation Report within 3 days of your event.

• Tests and Role Plays will be sent to DAs with DLC in December this month.

• The District President Report is due on the 10th of this month for October.

 December  

• Good luck with DLC if yours is this month. 

  • The DLC Script  will help you with your awards ceremony.

  • Complete the DLC Winners Report within 3 days of your event.

  • Complete the DLC Participation Report within 3 days of your event.

• Tests and Role Plays will be sent to DAs with DLC in January this month.

• The District President Report is due on the 10th of this month for November.

January  

• Good luck with DLC if yours is this month. 

  • The DLC Script  will help you with your awards ceremony.

  • Complete the DLC Winners Report within 3 days of your event.

  • Complete the DLC Participation Report within 3 days of your event.

• The District President Report is due on the 10th of this month for December.
• Ensure all SLC slots allotted to your district are used.
• Verify DA and DP name spelling for SLC.

February  

• The District President Report is due on the 10th of this month for January.
• Look out for last minute SLC details and directions.

March  

• The District President Report is due on the 10th of this month for February.
• See you on stage at SLC!

April  

• The District President Report is due on the 10th of this month for March.

May  

• The District President Report is due on the 10th of this month for April.
• Determine the DA for next year and send this information to Ryan Witzig.
