How to apply for a VA DECA Scholarship
1.Determine if you are elgible for a VA DECA Scholarship.
A. Is your course work going to fall under Marketing, Finance, Hospitality, Managment or Marketing Education in a post-secondary institution?
B. Are you a current member for the 2011-2012 school year?
2. Download the VA DECA Scholarship Application
Insider Tip: Do not leave any portion of the application blank and be sure to type the application. Be very specific when describing your DECA activities.
3. Be sure to include all required letters with signatures.
Insider Tip: You are required to have 5 different letters: a personal letter to the committee, a letter from your chapter advisor, a letter from a person of your choice, a letter from your employer or a member of the business community and a letter from your guidance counselor or school official. Please see the application for more specific details.
4. An official transcript including your final grades of your junior year as well as your SAT and/or ACT scores must be included in your packet.
Insider Tip: Request your Transcripts and Scores early in order to get them in time for the deadline.
5. Sign the application and have your parent sign the application as well.
6. Turn your application packet into your advisor to mail to the designated location by the stated deadline. See the calendar for dates and deadlines.
