I am a senior at
A junior at Clover Hill High School, this will be my third year serving as DECA member of region 5. Of those three years, I have held three officer positions for my chapter, and now I get to enjoy being this year’s state Historian. Of all experiences in the past two years, none compare to the feeling of unity that comes with each rising conference. At Districts, schools are cheered for; at States, districts are cheered for; and at Nationals, entire states come together in order to compete. That coming together reflects how people should be everywhere – united. Without each other we are nothing and certainly cannot accomplish anything without some form of support. Personally, I enjoy playing baseball in and out of school, as well as participating in numerous clubs and activities including three honor societies, Rock Climbing, and Model UN to name a few. Of course, no activities list would be complete without DECA. I am positive that this year will be filled with greatness thanks to the leadership and support of over 13,000 members.
Regional Vice Presidents I am a senior at Dominion High School. I am this year’s Region One Vice President. I’ve been a DECA member all four years of my high school career and can not seem to get enough of it! I love DECA so much because of the way it pushes you to reach past your potential and strive for success. My favorite DECA memory is when I called my mom from states after the first time I competed, explaining to her what the Blue Diamond in my hands meant, and that I was going to Nationals! Winning at a DECA competition, along with all of the long-lasting friendships you make (through chapter meetings, or even conversing with other competitors), are some of the most rewarding feelings ever! Outside of DECA, I spend a ton of time playing Region 2 I am currently a senior at Westfield High School, Region 2 of Virginia. I have been a DECA member for the past three years. My favorite DECA memory was when my school participated in the Chick-fil-a challenge against one of our rival schools. This memory is my favorite because it was a great experience in how students of all different backgrounds came together and created a fantastic event. This is one of the reasons I made that choice to become a DECA state officer. My Goal as an officer is to not only get more people to join DECA, but to also get them more involved in DECA. Outside of DECA I participate on my high schools varsity golf team and I hold a part-time job at a local restaurant. In my free time I enjoy running, listening to music (all different kinds) and just hanging out with my friends. My favorite quote is “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm”. To me, this quote means that if you are not putting your heart into what you are doing you most likely will not achieve what you set out to accomplish. I love meeting new people and connecting with my fellow DECA members. I am looking forward to having a fantastic year as your Virginia Region 2 Vice President. carrisaj@aol.com Region 4 I was born in Columbus, Mississippi on October 31, 1993 (yes I am a Halloween baby). Since my dad was in the air force we moved around a lot, I have lived in Alabama and Ohio as well before settling down in Chesapeake, Virginia. Whoot Whoot! I love Chesapeake because we are 30 minutes from Virginia Beach and an hour from the Outer Banks, so I spend half my time on the beach! I am currently a senior at Grassfield High School, located in Region 4, and have been an Officer for my chapter since my freshman year. DECA has influenced my life in ways I could never have imagined. It has helped me decide on career paths and helped me to grow as a person. My favorite DECA memories are probably from my first ICDC in Louisville, Kentucky. It was my first time on a plane and everything that could go wrong went wrong (literally!), but after all of that I probably had one of the best weeks of my life. At my high school I have play Volleyball and Cheerleading. I am a part of the Entrepreneurship strand of the Technology Academy at Grassfield High School, National Honor Society, Girl Scouts, and am extremely involved in my church as a student leader. I love DECA with all of my heart and look forward to seeing all of your smiling faces at SLC this year! I am so excited to get started as your Region 4 Vice President and cannot wait to see the adventures that lie ahead! Region 5

soccer or watching other sports (like Hockey, Football, and Baseball) on TV if I can not make it to a game! I love hanging with my family, who means the world to me! My favorite pastime is hanging with friends, which almost always ties into eating somehow. I am a member of the National Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society, and love promoting DECA to anyone I can find! I am very excited to serve Virginia DECA this year as a State Officer and can not wait for all of the fun we will have!

King George DECA
I attend King George High School and I will be a senior there next year. This will be my fourth year in DECA! My Favorite DECA memory has to be, when I gave my speech to the voting delegates at SLC. It was so exciting and nerve racking but it was one of the most wonderful DECA experiences I ever had, because I was able to overcome by nervousness. I had never been so nervous in my life, but it all worked out in the end! A little bit about me is, I want to go into to medical field, I’m a Marine child, I’m captain of the Varsity field hockey team, I’m in National Honor Society, have been an Officer for my class for the past 3 years, I was District 19 President, and I’m active in my church youth group. My passion is DECA and I have so many goals and ambitions for this upcoming year! Feel free to contact me about Region 3, can’t wait to hear from you. DECA diamonds are forever! J

I was born in Kingsport, Tennessee on December 10, 1993. I have lived in the same place my entire life, Dryden, Virginia. Dryden is a very small area out in the country filled with multiple farms and open land, without any stores or anything considered "fun". However, we do have one gas/service station. Despite not having much to do, I love exactly where I live. I am an upcoming Senior at Lee High School. I play softball for my high school, and am a member and captain of our marching band's flag corp. I am active in many of my school's clubs such as DECA, of course, Senior Beta Club, SCA, Spanish Club, Science Club, FBLA, Co-ed Hi Y, First Priority, and Pep Club. I have only been in DECA one year; this upcoming year will be my second. My favorite memory while being in DECA is attending my first ICDC held in Orlando, FL just last year. Meeting people from all different states and countries was an incredible experience. Trading my Virginia pins with different states/countries was definitely an interesting time. I am very excited for this year in DECA and being a state officer; I know it will be a great one. I am anxious to see where this year takes me, including trips and decisions. I am very grateful for God, my family, and the few friends I have; I wouldn't be anywhere near to where I am without them.
