Social Media Intern, 2025

Virginia DECA is seeking a dynamic and creative individual to serve as our DECA Social Media Intern for the 2025–2026 school year. This opportunity is ideal for a rising junior or senior DECA member currently enrolled in a Marketing course, preferably Digital and Social Media Marketing.​We’re looking for someone with a passion for digital communication and content creation who is eager to represent Virginia DECA across multiple platforms and events.

Applicants must:

  • Be in good standing with their DECA chapter, school, and Virginia DECA

  • Maintain strong academic and behavioral standing at school

  • Have a visible social media presence

  • Possess video and photography editing skills

  • Own personal video and photography equipment

  • Be professional, dependable, and enthusiastic about collaborating with diverse groups including students, advisors, industry partners, and judges

  • Have your advisor submit a letter of recommendation to StateAdvisor@vadeca.org by 8/22/25.

  • Create a 30–60 second video highlighting your DECA experience. Directions are in the form. Upload to your IG account and tag @Virginia DECA by August 22, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Meet monthly (virtually or in person) with the DECA State Advisor

  • Share media files regularly with the VP of Marketing and State Advisor

  • Attend your District Competition in Fall 2025

  • Create organized event media folders including edited photos and short videos for use on VA DECA’s social media and website

  • Serve as a standby voting delegate at ICDC

 

Travel Requirements

The intern must be available to attend the following Virginia DECA events:

📍 Your District Leadership Conference

📍 Camp DECA — September 15–16, 2025

📍 DECA Ultimate Power Trip (Arlington, VA) — November 21–23, 2025

📍 State Leadership Conference (Virginia Beach, VA) — February 25–March 1, 2026

📍 International Career Development Conference (Atlanta, GA) — April 22–29, 2026

 

What Virginia DECA Covers

  • Event registration

  • Quad-occupancy housing

  • Out-of-state charter bus or airline transportation

  • Meals when provided

  • Attraction tickets only when covered by VA DECA

 What the Intern is Responsible For

  • Meals not provided at events

  • Attraction tickets not covered by VA DECA

  • In-state transportation

  • All missing homework, projects, exams at their school.
